The company, which launched in February 2023, has already manufactured approximately 1,000 general-purpose robots at its Lingang Fengxian factory. A recently released video demonstrates the comprehensive production process, including component assembly, testing procedures, and performance validation.
In an innovative approach, AgiBot is utilizing pre-existing robots to assist in the manufacturing of new units. This development places China ahead in the global race for commercial humanoid robot production. While U.S.-based Tesla is also developing its Optimus robot, mass production isn't expected until 2026, according to CEO Elon Musk.
The capabilities of these robots differ between manufacturers. Tesla's Optimus is designed for general tasks like lawn maintenance, grocery shopping, and household assistance. AgiBot, meanwhile, appears to be focusing on more technically sophisticated applications requiring detailed manipulation.
