A major data breach at Wolf Haldenstein Adler Freeman & Herz LLP has exposed sensitive personal information of approximately 3.5 million individuals, the prominent U.S. law firm revealed.

The breach, which occurred in December 2023, resulted in unauthorized access to highly confidential data including full names, Social Security numbers, employee identification numbers, and sensitive medical information of affected individuals.

The law firm completed its investigation in early 2024, discovering that both medical diagnoses and claim details were among the compromised data. While conducting its review, Wolf Haldenstein noted that they have not found evidence of misuse of the stolen information so far.

The firm faced challenges in directly notifying some impacted individuals due to incomplete contact information. "Wolf Haldenstein was unable to locate address information to provide direct notice to the subset of potentially impacted individuals," the firm stated in its official breach notification.

In response to the incident, Wolf Haldenstein has advised affected individuals to remain vigilant and monitor their personal information for any suspicious activity.

This incident highlights the ongoing challenges faced by legal organizations in protecting sensitive client data against cyber threats. The scale of this breach is particularly notable given the law firm's long-standing reputation and the sensitive nature of the compromised information.
